Grant Committee of GEF SGP approves three projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The grant committee within the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (the GEF SGP) in Uzbekistan approved three ecologic initiatives.

In particular, the committee approve project on conservation farming in Samarkand region, project on laser planning of fields in Karakalpakstan and project on construction of biogas facility in Namangan region.

The project on conservation farming in Samarkand region will demonstrate technology, which will allow to produce 86,000 forage per hectare. These technologies were earlier tested by specialists of Samarkan Agriculture Institute and ICARDA.

Within the project, it is planned to demonstrate new ways of soil processing and spread these experience among farmers. Farmers will have chance to increase their yield and improve quality of soil.

The project on laser planning of fields in Karakalpakstan will demonstrate local farmers opportunities on saving water and improve fertility of land, as well as avoid soil salinization. It will also show farmers opportunity of laser planning of fields, which were tested in Khorezm, Namangan and Kashkadarya regions.

Within the project, it is planned to procure 12 laser planning equipment for farms of Karakalpakstan region.

Third project will improve conditions at rural school and supply gas to greenhouses with help of biogas facility.
