Governor of Ferghana region visits families of gas station explosion victims

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The governor of Ferghana region, Khayrullo Bozarov, visited families who lost loved ones in the tragic gas station explosion in Ferghana, providing them with necessary assistance, according to Farg’ona24.

The Emergency Situations Department reported that the explosion occurred on December 17 at 1:43 PM during the unloading of liquefied gas. The cause was identified as violations of technological processes and safety regulations. Firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes, contained the fire by 2:02 PM, and fully extinguished it by 2:12 PM. Official reports confirm that four people lost their lives in the incident.

Sources from the regional administration revealed that the governor personally visited the victims’ homes, extended condolences, and spoke with their families. He also participated in the funerals. All four families received financial support.

According to the Ferghana branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid, 13 people injured in the explosion were admitted to the hospital around 2:00 PM on December 17. One person was declared dead on arrival and sent for forensic examination.

By 3:00 PM the same day, two children were in critical condition, receiving intensive care for severe burns covering 90% of their bodies and respiratory tract damage. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, both children succumbed to their injuries.

Additionally, three patients with burns covering 70-90% of their bodies remain in extremely critical condition in the neurosurgery ward.

One woman in intensive care passed away at 11:25 PM despite extensive resuscitation efforts. Her body was sent for forensic examination.

Four other patients are undergoing treatment in the burn unit with burns covering 20% of their bodies. Their condition is stable and of moderate severity.

Three individuals with minor burns were discharged after medical evaluation.

Currently, six patients remain hospitalized under the care of specialized medical teams from the capital.
