Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The executive authorities of Uzbekistan will be moved to the territory of the city of New Tashkent in accordance with the presidential decree “On additional measures to reduce state participation in the economy” from 19 April.

The President instructed the coordination council for the construction of the city of New Tashkent, headed by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, to submit a proposal for the relocation of government bodies, the effective use of their administrative buildings and the use of funds from their sale for the construction of administrative buildings in the new city.

In March 2023, the President laid down a capsule inaugurating the construction of New Tashkent, intended for 1 million people. The new city will house government agencies, universities and other facilities, and it is planned to open hotels, retail and service facilities on the territory of the current administrative buildings.
