Global educational campaign “Hour of Code” to take place in Uzbekistan for the first time
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Hour of Code, a global movement, directed at attracting youth to informatics and coding, will be held in Uzbekistan for the first time on 10 December 2017.

The Hour of Code calls people worldwide to allocate an hour to study programming basics. Within the global campaign, Inha University in Tashkent will host an hour coding sessions on 10 December 2017. The project is organized with participation of Microsoft Corporation, Inha University in Tashkent and CodeCraft.

Within the campaign, three coding sessions will be organized for children at the age between 8 and 11. Registration of participants is open at the website http://codecraft.uz/minecraft/ and last till 8 December 2017.

Annually initiative supported in over 180 countries of the world. “Hour of Code” gives opportunity to each students to show their abilities, receive basic knowledge in IT sphere, receive coding knowledge and helps to select future profession. The teachers, in their turn, receive chance to use new interactive technologies in teaching and improve interest of students to their subjects.

Microsoft releases new Hour of Code Tutorial called Hero`s Journey based on new popular game Minecraft. It is directed at teaching information technologies basics in easy and interesting form during school events, class hours and home works. The authors creatively present the reader with the basic concepts and principles of programming with the help of Agents - famous characters. Any educational institution can join the campaign.

“Our task is to support youth’s interest in informatics and programming, increase the prestige of the IT sphere, motivate schoolchildren to obtain professions in this field. To attract the attention of young people to information technology, it is important to present the complex topics with a simple, understandable language. Today we cannot imagine life without information technologies. Students, who have decided to link their future careers with programming, get an opportunity to grow and develop in the most complex and prestigious industry, to receive a consistently high salary and to take internships abroad,” Rector of Inha University in Tashkent Sarvar Babakhodjaev.

According to the results of the World Economic Forum, more than 65% of modern schoolchildren will receive professions that do not exist today. Microsoft works with schools, universities and charitable organizations, educating future professionals on the critical thinking and technical skills necessary to adapt and achieve professional success in the modern digital economy.
