Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Gideon Lustig has been appointed as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Uzbekistan. This was announced by the press service of the Israeli diplomatic mission.

Lustig recently held meetings with the leaders of Jewish communities in Uzbekistan.

The Ambassador emphasized the significance of these meetings: "One of my priorities during my first week in Tashkent was to meet with the leaders of the local Jewish communities. I thank Vladimir Shapira and Arkady Isakhrov for their warm welcome.

Jewish communities have always been a home away from home for me," he stated.

In this position, Gideon Lustig succeeds Zeavit Ben-Hillel, who concluded her diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan in July 2024.
