Uzbekistan27/07/2007German MPs visit Uzbekistan to boost ties
A delegation of the German Bundestag (parliament) is on a visit in Uzbekistan. The delegation visited the Senate [upper house] of Oliy Majlis [parliament] on 26 July, the Uzbek TV .
They discussed issues relating to further expanding interparliamentary relations between the two countries and establishing an exchange of experience in law-making. The guests were familiarized with the construction work carried out at the Senate.
The aim of the meeting was to further develop Uzbek-German relations. The guests were also informed about the transition to a bicameral parliament in Uzbekistan, results of the judicial and legal reforms being carried out at the initiative of our head of state, and the essence of newly adopted laws. From this point of view, it was stressed that the developing friendly relations would positively influence all spheres.
Wolf Bauer, German MP and deputy chairman of the German-Central Asia parliamentary group, said: "Of course, our mutual understanding will be a foundation not only to develop interparliamentary relations but also to implement projects in various sectors as well. I think such meetings should be held frequently".
