An addendum has been signed to the Uzbek gas supply contract. The document contemplates using a pricing formula based on European gas prices.
As earlier reported, the delegation of Gazprom led by its chairman Alexey Miller visited Uzbekistan on 19 December to discuss gas transit from this Central Asian state and gas purchase in 2009.
Uzbekistan’s total natural gas resources exceed 6.25 trillion cubic meters, including 1.62 trillion cubic meters in commercial reserves. At present the country extracts 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year, including 5 billion cubic meters exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. With first imports launched in May 2003, over 2005 Russia acquired some 8 billion cubic meters of Uzbek gas.
