Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A gas explosion occurred in a residential house in Marhamat District, Andijan Region, according to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The incident took place on 3 January at around 03:00 in a house located in the “Shomat” mahalla. Citizen Kh. Sh. attempted to ignite a homemade heating device, which led to a gas flash.

As a result of the explosion, Kh. Sh. sustained burns covering 90% of his body, his wife L. Sh. suffered 35-40% burns, their son Zh. Kh. sustained 20-30% burns, and their daughter Kh. Kh. suffered burns on 70% of her body. The victims were immediately taken to a medical facility.

On 4 January, despite the doctors’ best efforts, the daughter, Kh. Kh., passed away.

A forensic examination and pre-investigation check are currently underway regarding the incident.
