Fund Forum hands over books to The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- After some break one of largest art museums of the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, opened a gallery dedicated to Islamic civilization, Fund Forum said.

The fifteen exhibition halls present rare exhibits from Middle East, Northern Africa, Southern and Central Asia. In the honour of the event, Fund Forum handed over unique books – “Samples of eastern calligraphy and miniature art of the VII-XXI centuries” and "Civilizations, nations, cultures of Central Asia", published by Fund Forum to the Islamic Art Department of the Museum.

The book “Samples of eastern calligraphy and miniature art of the VII-XXI centuries” is the first attempt to order and systematization of rare samples of calligraphy and miniature art of people of the East. The book presented unique samples of ornament, book miniature and calligraphy. The book illustrated with ancient samples of calligraphy. The book published in Russia, Uzbek, English and French.

The second book "Civilizations, nations, cultures of Central Asia" by academician Eduard Rtveladze provides information on history of civilizations in Central Asia, their development and culture, relations with other states. The book published in Russia, English and Japanese.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, found in 1870, is one of largest and visited art museums in the world.

Sheila Canby, main curator of Islamic Art Department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, expressed gratitude to the Fund Forum for presented unique books. She said cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, especially its ancient cities, represented special interest and takes special place of the museum’s collection.
