Fund Forum halts its activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 November 2013, the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation (Fund Forum) announces that it halts its activities.

Public organizations and NGOs constitute a fresh phenomenon in Uzbekistan, and it is not surprising that the importance of creating a civil society with their help is hard to overestimate. However, due to the flawed base and social guarantees for their activities, they face a number of obstacles. Fund Forum could continue to work productively, but “I sincerely believe that you can risk yourself but not the people, who are dear to you,” Gulnara Karimova, the Chairwoman of Fund Forum, said on Twitter on November 21.

Since its inception in 2004, Fund Forum has organized and held over 3,000 projects, over 100 of them abroad, and over 7.5 million people have benefited from these efforts.

The idea of the activities of this unprecedentedly large organization is unique in that it has worked in various areas while covering large segments of society and age categories, with the youth and volunteers having been the prime moving force behind the Foundation. By working to bring together virtually all famous public figures in and outside Uzbekistan through arts, cultural, educational, healthcare, sports and design projects as well as charity and social events, Fund Forum has grown into the most sought-after and recognized public organization in Uzbekistan.

As Gulnara Karimova noted, Fund Forum will carry out all its commitments. Specifically, it will complete the ongoing and planned projects such as Yangi Avlod (New Generation) Children’s Art Festival featuring over 35,000 children, Kelajak Ovozi (Voice of the Future) Talented Youth Contest featuring over 74,000 boys and girls, The Woman of the Year National Contest with over 30,000 applications, Bazaar Art Fair presenting works by hundreds of craftsmen and women, M&TVA Awards Ceremony honoring top Uzbek singers and film stars as well as Mehr Nuri Foundation and the SISF’s grant programs and the National Breast Cancer Association’s free health diagnostics program benefiting people across the country.

Fund Forum has done an inordinate amount of work, particularly in the area of raising self-awareness and providing education for the youth. “Fund Forum will be loved more and more with each passing day,” Karimova tweeted.

Fund Forum thanks everyone who, for the past ten years, has worked to contribute to the development and advancement of national arts, culture, education, sports and charity through a multitude of projects.

“I want to thank each and every one for their strength of spirit, talent and dedicated work!” Karimova concluded.
