Culture 31/10/2008 Fund Forum, British Council ink memo to strengthen relations
Fund Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and UK’s British Council
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fund Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and UK’s British Council signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in education, culture and art in Tashkent, the Uzbek fund said in a press release on 30 October.

Gulnara Karimov, chairperson of the Trustee Council of the Fund Forum of Culture and Art and Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan at UN and other international organizations in Geneva, and Martin Davidson, chairperson and executive office of British Council, signed the memorandum. Martin Davidson is paying official visit to Uzbekistan, the press release said.

The memorandum envisages further deepening of bilateral cooperation between two organizations in education, culture, art and mutual visits in 2008-2011, the release said.

The Uzbek fund said that two organizations have been cooperating for a long time and they implemented several joint projects.

Martin Davidson said that culture and education are core of mutual relations between Uzbekistan and the UK. He said that 12 successful years of operation in Uzbekistan cannot be imagined without partners. He said that the British Council values cooperation with the Fund Forum.

Davidson underlined that the British Council represents Uzbekistan abroad thanks to the Fund Forum and the Council organizes various bright projects to raise awareness of British people on unique culture and art of Uzbekistan.

The memorandum, which was signed, is directed to further strengthening of these warm relations between two nations, he said.
