From 1 June, banks should launch a biometric identification system for customers receiving loans

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 1 June, banks should launch a biometric identification system for customers receiving loans. This is envisaged by the presidential resolution "On additional measures to raise support for business initiatives of the population to a new stage in the framework of family business development programs", which was signed in January this year.

The President instructed the Central Bank, as well as authorized banks, together with the Personalization Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Agency for the Work of Mahallabai and Entrepreneurship Development, from 1 June 2023, in the process of issuing a loan to the population and business entities, to establish the identification of the borrower based on biometric data in the ID-card (biometric passport).

In addition, the Personalization Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were instructed to provide practical assistance to authorized banks in the use of biometric data for digital verification of the population and business entities.

Earlier, it was reported that the fraudster managed to get a loan and open a plastic card in the name of a resident of Tashkent.

Currently, the following types of biometric identification/authentication are the most common:

  - by fingerprint

  - in the face, both in two-dimensional and three-dimensional image

  - by voice

  - on the iris of the eye

  - according to the geometry of the palm or the pattern of veins in the palm

Biometric identification differs from authentication in that during identification, the user is determined by comparing his biometric data with all available in the system until a match is found.
