The Uzbek Interior Ministry’s medical department with support from the United Nations Population Fund [UNFPA], the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the regional representative office of the UN Office for Drugs Control and Crime Prevention (UNODC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) organized this forum.

The participants in the conference were especially interested in the development of the Interior Ministry’s strategy for fighting HIV/AIDS. The participants also learnt about the guiding international principles of preventing HIV/AIDS at prisons, and discussed measures to prevent HIV at work places, as well as methods of work with the most vulnerable groups.

Cooperation between NGOs and the law-enforcement agencies was also discussed, and relevant resolutions were adopted, the newspaper said.
