Foreign interest in trips to Kazakhstan surges ahead of World Nomad Games
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Two weeks before the opening of the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana, Amadeus, a leading international provider of IT solutions for the travel industry, analyzed global flight data to identify the countries showing the greatest interest in visiting Kazakhstan during the Games.
According to Amadeus, the number of searches for flights to Kazakhstan, including domestic flights, increased by 13.4% from October 2023 to September 2024 compared to the same period the previous year. A significant spike in demand was noted in July 2024, two months before the Games, with search volume up 24.5% compared to June of the same year.
The analysis also revealed that tourists from India, Germany, the United States, Türkiye, and South Korea are most interested in visiting Kazakhstan during the Games. Below is a list of the leading countries in terms of flight search volumes to Kazakhstan during the event dates (September 8-13, 2024) compared to last year (September 8-13, 2023):

Notably, there has been a significant increase in interest from tourists in Malaysia, Canada, and Japan. Malaysia rose from 30th to 9th place, Canada from 18th to 11th, and Japan from 20th to 13th.
Interest in flights to Astana, where the Games will be held, was also analyzed. Germany leads in the number of flight searches to Astana (NQZ Airport):

Tatiana Akulova, General Manager of Amadeus in Central Asia and the Caucasus, noted that the World Nomad Games are a significant event for Kazakhstan and Central Asia, contributing to the development of inbound tourism and the region's cultural potential. The analysis of international data helps tourism and transport companies, as well as hotels and other stakeholders, to plan their offerings more effectively.
The 5th World Nomad Games will take place on 8-13 September 2024, in Astana, with over 2,800 participants from 89 countries expected to attend. The Games are established to celebrate the traditional sports and cultural heritage of nomadic peoples around the world.
It is also worth noting that the 6th World Nomad Games will be held in Uzbekistan in 2026.
