Five Uzbek films to be featured at the First Moscow International Film Week

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An inaugural Moscow International Film Week, scheduled from August 23 to 28, will showcase five films from Uzbekistan.

Organized by the Department of Culture of Moscow and the Creative Industries Agency, the festival aims to expand creative and professional connections within the film industry.

A delegation from Uzbekistan will participate in both entertainment and business programs, focusing on exploring new avenues for collaboration and familiarizing themselves with Moscow’s film production infrastructure.

The festival will bring together representatives from over 40 countries, including China, India, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and Thailand. The event will feature more than 200 activities across 100 venues, including traditional cinemas and unique locations such as hotel rooftops and floating theaters.

The Moscow audience will have the opportunity to view the following Uzbek films:

1. 101 Flight: The story of pilot Zarif Saidzamov, who faces the most challenging flight of his career when his Boeing 757 flight from Uzbekistan to New York becomes part of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

2. The Smell of Melons in Samarkand: A film about an elderly teacher, Askar-ota, who travels by bicycle to give private lessons and sends money to Russia, reflecting the essence of the local community.

3. Hot Bread: The tale of Zulfiya, a teenager who dreams of moving to the city to be with her mother while dealing with complicated relationships in her village.

4. Two Thousand Songs of Farida: Set during the Central Asian civil war, the film follows Komil, living on the fringes of society, and his hopes for the future despite difficult times.

5. Long Live the Wife: A light-hearted comedy celebrating and honoring women.

Alexey Fursin, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Culture of Moscow, stated that the Moscow International Film Week will be a significant event of the year, drawing attention to international films and creating opportunities for collaborative projects.
