Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A mass poisoning incident involving locally produced cognac has resulted in the deaths of five people in Andijan.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, between 22 and 26 December, 22 people sought medical assistance with symptoms of acute poisoning. It was found that all the victims had consumed alcoholic beverages branded "Ўзбекистон." Unfortunately, five of them could not be saved.
The Andijan regional prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case under relevant sections of the Criminal Code. An investigative task force has been established, consisting of representatives from the prosecutor's office, the investigative department of the regional Interior Ministry, and specialists from the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
The investigation is focused on identifying the source of the dangerous alcohol and tracing its distribution chain. Authorities strongly advise citizens to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages of dubious origin.
If symptoms of poisoning occur, individuals are urged to seek medical assistance immediately.
