First Uzbek-Thai business forum held in Bangkok
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The First Uzbek-Thai business forum was held in Bangkok. The event was organized by Ministry of Commerce, Trade Chamber of Thailand, Thai Industrialists Industry and Investments Chamber of Thailand.

A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan Nasreddin Nadjimov paid a visit to Bankok to attend the event, Jahon news agency reported.

Within the first day of the visit, the Uzbek delegation held negotiations with representatives of Thai Industrialists Federation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Chamber of Thailand.

During the talks at the Thai Industrialists Federation, the sides expressed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation between businesses of Uzbekistan and Thailand.

At the negotiations with representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the sides noted that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Thailand are developing. It was noted that Thailand will implement new technical assistance programme in Uzbekistan, which will help Uzbekistan to train specialists in tourism, agriculture and trade-investment cooperation.

During the meeting at the Trade Chamber, the Thai side expressed interest in developing bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation with Uzbekistan. It was noted that there are opportunities to lift cooperation to new quality level.

In the second day, Dusit Tani Bangkok Hotel hosted the first Uzbek-Thai business forum, which was attended by Thailand officials.

Mr Najimov briefed participants on main directions of economic development of Uzbekistan and presented information on investment potential, as well as macroeconomic figures for last years.

Mrs. Porntiva Nakasai, Minister of Commerce of Thailand, said that the first Uzbek-Thai forum will become important step in strengthening cooperation between businesses of two states. She said that bosh states have great opportunity to increase bilateral trade turnover.

Within the forum, Thai-Uzbek Business Association was opened. The sides expressed hope that the association will be directed at expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

In the second part of the forum, the delegation of Uzbekistan held negotiations with Thailand businesses, who expressed interest to establish cooperation with the Uzbek counterparts.

During the talks between Najimov and Nakasai, Thai minister expressed her readiness to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan in the first half of 2011.
