Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 November, the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty  Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norkulov held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank.

During the meeting, issues of economic growth, the development of a “green” economy and ensuring “green” growth, the development of a Country Climate and Development Report, ongoing reforms in the energy sector, the development of a long-term strategy for decarbonizing the economy, in particular, decarbonization were discussed. energy sector, as well as accelerating the processes of digitization of the industry, improving infrastructure.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Bank presented the conclusions and recommendations of a new joint report “Towards a Green Economy in Uzbekistan” at the II International Economic Forum of Uzbekistan, held in Samarkand on November 3-4.

The World Bank is supporting the government of Uzbekistan in its economic transformation and in setting strategic priorities for building climate resilience and enhancing stability. Green, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth is a key element of the recently adopted Country Partnership Program 2022-2026.

The country cooperation program contributes to the implementation of the New Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, which includes, among other priority reforms, the transition to a green economy, environmental protection, energy efficiency and water conservation, prevention of land degradation and other reforms.
