Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air, inviting visitors to the tourist street of the Gulbazar neighborhood in Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent.
From 3 to 4 October, the unique festival "Tashkent - Bread City" took place, becoming a true celebration for all bread lovers and enthusiasts of Uzbekistan’s traditional culture.
Over two days, bakers from both local areas and other regions showcased around 50 different types of bread and baked goods. Visitors enjoyed the delightful scent of freshly baked bread, tasted traditional Uzbek flatbreads, fluffy rolls, and crispy loaves, and watched as skilled artisans prepared this staple food right before their eyes. Many guests showed interest in the process, eagerly asking questions and receiving valuable baking tips.
The festival also featured engaging workshops on embroidery and making traditional Uzbek ornaments called "suzane." Participants had the opportunity to try their hands at these crafts, creating unique pieces of art. The masters shared secrets of their craft, and attendees left with new knowledge and their own creations.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by performances from artists who entertained the audience with live music and lively dances. Many performers presented traditional Uzbek songs and dances, immersing everyone in the rich cultural ambiance. The audience actively supported the artists, clapping and singing along.
Interactive games and activities were organized for both children and adults, making the festival enjoyable for the whole family.
The "Tashkent - Bread City" festival became a vibrant event, bringing people together around a shared love for bread and the traditions of Uzbekistan. More than 5,000 people attended the festival, leaving with bags full of fresh bread and unforgettable memories.
