RIA Novosti reported that the company started general construction works and supply of equipment has been started. Modernization will allow to increase load of capacities.

Within the project, it is planned to increase capacities on production of carbamide by 30,000 tonnes, ammonium nitrate – by 62,000, ammonium and nitric acid – by 50,000 each. The project will be implemented within two years.

The project cost is US$55 million. Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan will allocate US$24 million and Uzbek banks will issue US$22 million to project implementation. The enterprise will issue US$9 million of own resources.

Ferghanaazot is the largest enterprise in Uzbekistan for the production of nitrogen fertilizer and it was commissioned in 1956. Currently, the plant is the largest chemical enterprise for the production of ammonium nitrate (capacity – 350,000 tonnes a year) and carbamide (270,000 tonnes a year).
