Regional gross domestic product (GDP) of Ferghana region increased by 4.9% in the first quarter of 2007, a session of deputies’ council of the region said.

The session, which summed up results for the first quarter of 2007 and discussed perspectives for the year, said the industrial output of the region rose by 5.6% and retail trade increased by 12.1%, while rendered services grew by 22%.

The session said the export potential of the region increased due to introduction of new technologies in industry, increase production capacity and creation of new ventures.
