The index made up 56.1 points in February 2011, which is 3.2 points up compared to January 2011. The forecast for March 2011 makes up 69.9 points, which says that the Business Activity Index will grow next month.

The committee noted that current Business Activity Index means favourable trend as it is higher than 50 points and positive dynamic says about the growth of business activity.

The growth was recorded in agriculture and water management, processing of agriculture products and production of consumer gods, capital construction and construction industry, machinery and electrotechnical industry, energy complex, chemistry, oil and chemical and metallurgy industries.

The main reason for such growth is high demand for products and seasonality, which started to impact to consumer demands due to end of winter period.

Business Activity Index in industry sector (APIC 100) was developed in June 2010 and calculated based on survey of 100 large and medium businesses. The APIC 100 replaced the Index APIC 50 (based on survey of 50 enterprises).

The index is calculated based on 5 basic indicators, such as new orders, production volume and realization, employment and ready products at warehouse.
