Farmers’ Council founded in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Farmers’ Council has been founded in Uzbekistan. Constituent Assembly of the Farmers’ Council was held in Tashkent on 13 November 2012, UzA reported.

The state-run agency reported that some 350 farmers from Karakalpakstan and all regions of Uzbekistan attended the event.

As reported earlier, in October 2012 Uzbek leader Islam Karimov approved decision of the conference of Uzbekistan Farmers Association on abolishment of the organization. He also agreed with initiative of the farmers on creation of Uzbekistan Farmers Council, Karakalakstan Farmers Council and Farmers Council of regions and districts.

The main tasks of the councils are to develop proposals on improving legislation in farming, strengthening material and financial base of farmers, ensuring reliable protection of their property.

The council will also protect rights and interests of farmers, including in their relations with state bodies, vendors and services organizations, as well as courts.

They also conduct public control over reorganization and creation of farms, and allocation of lands to them. The council will also help to create and expand consulting centers, which will render legal, economic, financial and other assistance to farmers.

Uzbek President also presented right to council to appeal decisions of state and economic bodies at courts without paying state duty.

The structure of Farmers’ Council and its charter were approved at the Constituent Assembly. Hero of Uzbekistan and head of Asaka Jilosi Farm (Andijan region) Sadykjan Turdiev was elected as its chairperson.
