Exports of Uzbekistan exceed US$17.36 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – In January-November 2022, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached US$44.94 billion, which, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by US$6.84 billion (up 18.0%), the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Of the total volume of the foreign trade turnover, exports amounted to US$17.36 billion (an increase of 12.0% compared to January-November 2021), and imports - US$27.58 billion (an increase of 22.1% ).

As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a passive balance in the amount of - US$10.21 billion.

The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded in February 2022 and was noted at the level of US$5.23 billion. Compared to the same month in 2021, its increase was US$$2.84 billion. In November 2022, the volume of foreign trade turnover amounted to US$4,85 billion and, compared to the same period in 2021, it decreased by 8.3%.

Among the 20 major partner countries in foreign economic activity, there is an active foreign trade balance with three countries, in particular with such countries as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. There is a passive balance of foreign trade turnover with 17 countries.

To date, the Republic of Uzbekistan has trade relations with 200 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with the Russian Federation (18.6%), China (18.2%), Kazakhstan (9.3%), Turkey (6.5%), the Republic of Korea (4.8%), Kyrgyzstan (2.5%) and Germany (2.1%).

The share of foreign trade turnover of the CIS countries in the period under review, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 3.2% and their share in foreign trade turnover, according to the results of January-November 2022, amounted to 40.0%.

The volume of foreign trade turnover of other states in January-November 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, respectively, decreased by 3.2% and amounted to 60.0% of the total foreign trade turnover.

The largest volume of foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries was recorded with the Russian Federation (46.3%), Kazakhstan (23.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (6.2%).

In January-November 2022, the total number of exporting entities amounted to 6,893 units, which ensured that the volume of exports without gold reached US$13.84 billion (an increase of 21.4% compared to the same period in 2021).

In the structure of exports, 79.2% is occupied by goods, which are mainly manufactured goods (23.1%), food products and live animals (8.4%), chemicals and similar products (7.0%).

The largest volume of exports was recorded in February 2022 and was noted at the level of US$2.7 billion. Compared to the same month in 2021, its increase was US$$1.89 billion. In November 2022, the volume of exports amounted to US$1.88 billion and, compared to the same period in 2021, decreased by 37.3%.

Compared to 2020-2021, our main partners in the export of goods and services in foreign trade turnover in January-November 2022 were such countries as China, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Their share in total exports reached 56.6%.

In the structure of exports of the republic, a significant share was noted in Tashkent, which is 24.2%, or US$4.3 billion, and the smallest share is fixed at 1.0%, or US$177.9 million in Jizzakh region.`

The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables in the period under review amounted to 1,599.8 thousand tons and, in value terms, reached US$1.03 billion (the growth rate, compared to the same period in 2021, amounted to 19.5%, respectively).

In January-November 2022, the share of fruits and vegetables in total exports amounted to 5.9%.

The main export markets for fruits and vegetables are the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, China and Pakistan.

In the structure of exports of textile products, the main share is occupied by cotton yarn (45.2%), as well as finished knitwear and garments (28.5%). In January-November 2022, 532 types of textile products were exported to 69 countries of the world.

The largest share of exports of textile products falls on the Russian Federation (US$1.15 billion - 41.0%) and Turkey (US$481.9 million - 21.8%).

The volume of exports of services in January-November 2022 amounted to US$3.63 billion, or 20.8% of the total volume of trade exports and increased by 55.2% compared to the same period in 2021. As part of the export of services, the lion’s share is occupied by transport services (44.4%), travel (tourism) (40.6%), telecommunications, computer and information services (6.8%), other business services (4.0%).

At the same time, for other services (4.2%), the largest share, respectively, falls on financial services (1.8%), insurance and pension services (1.4%), maintenance and repair services (0.3%) and etc.

During the reporting period, imports amounted to US$27.58 billion (an increase in growth rates, compared with January-November 2021, amounted to 22.1%). The main share in its structure is occupied by machinery and transport equipment (31.0%), industrial goods (19.0%), as well as chemicals and similar products (13.8%).

An analysis of the dynamics of imports of goods also showed that in January-November 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, the volume of imports of goods increased by US$4.2 billion and amounted to US$25.26 billion, and imports of services reached US$2.32 billion.

The largest volume of imports was recorded in November 2022 and was noted at the level of US$2.96 billion. Compared to the same month in 2021, its increase was US$$681.2 million. In November 2021, the volume of imports amounted to US$2.28 billion US dollars and, compared to the same period in 2021, it increased by 29.8%.

The share of imports from the CIS countries, compared to the same period in 2021, decreased by 1.2% and their share in foreign trade turnover, in January-November 2022, amounted to 24.2%.

In general, according to the results of January-November 2022, goods and services were imported to the Republic of Uzbekistan from 174 countries. One third of imports come from such large partner countries as the PRC, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Germany and India.

In addition, the share of other services accounted for 12.4% of total imports of services, including a high share of fees for the use of intellectual property.

According to the results of January-November 2022, in the structure of imports, the volume of machinery and transport equipment reached US$8.56 billion and increased by 16.2% compared to the same period in 2021; in general, the share in the total volume of imports amounted to 31.0%.

Imports of machinery and transport equipment increased by US$1.19 billion. Most of the supply of these goods to the country falls on the PRC - US$3.25 billion (38.0%), the Republic of Korea - US$1.43 billion (16.8%) and Turkey - US$661.9 million (7.7%).

According to the results of January-November 2022, in the structure of imports, the volume of industrial goods reached US$5.25 billion and increased by 26.3% compared to the same period in 2021; in general, the share in the total volume of imports amounted to 19 .0%.

Mostly, imports of industrial goods fall on iron and steel (US$2.27 billion), metal products (US$670.2 million), textile yarn, fabrics, finished products (US$497.7 million), paper or cardboard (US$426.0 million), etc.
