Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to experts, anti-Semitic sentiments have been growing in American society in recent years. The pressure on Jews is said to be felt on the street, on social media, in the media, and on university campuses.
It is emphasized that modern American anti-Semitism comes from both organizations professing the ideology of white supremacy and from supporters of the movement against violence against blacks (Black Lives Matter).
According to the American Jewish Committee’s annual poll, in 2019, 65% of American Jews surveyed said their situation in the United States was less secure than in the previous year. In 2018, 55% of respondents gave a similar answer to the same question. At the same time, in 2017, 41% of American Jews surveyed noted that anti-Semitism is a serious problem in the United States, which was 21% more than in 2016.
Moreover, in recent years, violence against Jews has also increased rapidly. So, in 2019, a record number was recorded - 2,100 attacks on people and destruction of property on anti-Semitic grounds.
According to experts, the growth of anti-Semitic sentiment contributes to the strengthening of emigration sentiment among American Jews. In particular, for the first time among American Jews, the idea of obtaining a second citizenship began to spread, which indicates their uncertainty about the future. The most popular are the passports of Canada, the EU and Israel.
Israeli organization "Nefeshbe-nefesh", engaged in the repatriation of American, British and Canadian Jews, for this year. managed to register a record number of American Jews for repatriation to Israel.
In general, experts note the rapid growth of anti-Semitism in the United States in recent years. According to their estimates, the evolving situation is causing strong fear of American Jews, who, in turn, began to actively seek alternative countries for residence.
