Experts from Uzbekistan and China exchange views on the prospects for the development of Uzbek-Chinese relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Director of the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov is in Beijing to participate in a conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the “Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence”.

During the stay, a number of meetings were held with the heads of leading think tanks in China.

The Uzbek delegation was received by JIN ZHE, Deputy Director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (IRVECA) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

ISMI and IRVECA have been maintaining active working contacts since 2000. In 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the institutes. The parties regularly hold joint expert meetings and annual events within the SCO and the Central Asian-PRC format.

Negotiations took place with the President of the Chinese Academy of International Problems (CAMP) Chen Bo.

CAMP is one of the leading analytical structures under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, studying problems of international politics and the world economy. The Institute prepares analytical documents on security, politics and economics.

A meeting was held with the leadership of the Institute for Social Development of Europe and Asia (ISREA) Li Yunquan.

ISREA is one of the leading international research institutes in China, founded in 1989. The Institute studies contemporary problems in the Eurasian space and reports directly to the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

During conversations with Chinese experts, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for the development of Uzbek-Chinese relations. Particularly noted was the intensive political dialogue at the highest level, friendly and confidential contacts between the heads of the two states.

The high effectiveness of the recent state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China was emphasized, as a result of which relations were brought to the level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era.

Regarding joint projects, the importance of signing an agreement on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was noted. According to Chinese experts, the practical implementation of this transport corridor will contribute to the further deepening of bilateral relations, and will also have a multiplier effect on the development of the economies of all countries in the region.

In addition, the parties separately focused on the Uzbek-Chinese expert dialogue. It was emphasized that over the past 7 years, more than 40 joint events and over 50 meetings have been held.

The successful holding of 4-5 June in Tashkent of the XIX meeting of the SCO Forum and the IV Forum “Central Asia - China” noted with satisfaction. Confidence was expressed that regular dialogue and exchange of views on current issues on the bilateral and regional agenda will help strengthen multifaceted cooperation.

As part of the negotiations, the interlocutors also discussed current issues on the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.
