Exhibition of "Aesthetics of hedonism" starts in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international exhibition of contemporary art "Aesthetics of hedonism: food, body, spirit" opened at the the Fine Arts Gallery within the framework of the third day of the Fashion Week Art Week Style.uz-2011 in Tashkent.

Opening of the exhibition was held under the patronage of the Fund Forum and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, which was organized within the framework of the VI International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Tashkent.

During the opening ceremony the connoisseurs of the beautiful had a chance to hear the speech of the director of the Goethe Institute in Tashkent, Johannes Dahl, prominent Russian TV presenter and critic Sergey Sholokhov, as well as many others leading artists of Uzbekistan.

For Uzbekistan, hedonism is quite new philosophical movement, and artists of Uzbekistan had a chance to open all the faces and features of the given flow of the world culture. Moreover, the exhibition also presented the works of artists and installers from Russia, France, Britain and Indonesia.

Aesthetic hedonism is a new conviction for Uzbekistan. Hedonism (from the Greek “hedone” - pleasure) presents pleasure as the main criterion and purpose of human life. Nowadays the understanding and realization of the ideas of hedonism in the world of art is constantly transformed.

The exhibition aimed to show aesthetic hedonism, which should be inculcated in every individual, tending to learn to obtain the pleasure not only from physical side but also spiritual one. As for the Uzbek artists, the exhibition became good chance to join to the world's artistic process.

Also, the Fine Arts Gallery conducts exhibition of reproductions of paintings and sketches of the German avant-garde artist of the first half of the twentieth century, Otto Dix. His works are vividly illustrate horrors of war, which sharply contrast to hedonism exhibition. Ironically, both shows only complement each other indicating completely different facets of art.
