Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The European Union Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar, visited the Tashkent Botanical Garden named after Academician F. N. Rusanova to review the ongoing beautification efforts.
Located in the heart of the capital, the Tashkent Botanical Garden is a unique natural park combining scientific significance with recreational opportunities. It showcases plants from five continents, including Central and East Asia, the Far East, Europe, and North America. The garden’s collection includes over 4,500 species of trees, flowers, and plants.
In 2024, the European Union provided technical support to the botanical garden by supplying modern equipment to improve its operations, including care for the grounds during the winter months. New benches were also installed to create a more comfortable environment for visitors.
The botanical garden has become an important space for raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices, especially amid global environmental challenges and climate change.
A key event in 2024 was the EU Festival in May, marking Europe Day and the 30th anniversary of EU-Uzbekistan partnership. The festival attracted over 10,000 visitors and featured an exhibition of EU projects, educational games, concerts, and family activities, demonstrating the EU’s commitment to cultural exchange and cooperation.
The European Union plans to continue its partnership with the botanical garden, organizing campaigns focused on nature conservation, biodiversity preservation, and strengthening ties between Europe and Uzbekistan.
