Envoy: Relations of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan reach new heights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- For last 5-6 years, relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan reached new quality level, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Shiri Shiriev said on 7 September 2012.

According to the envoy, political will of the President of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and regular meetings at high level helped to this.

Shiri Shiriev said that these meetings serve as important factor for gradual development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Shiriev said that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has common and close views on issues related to strengthening regional and global security, as well as stability.

He said that the counties has close positions on such issues as creating new effective mechanisms directed at boosting joint efforts on fighting international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, transnational crime.

During the briefing in Tashkent, Shiri Shiriev also announced initiatives, which Turkmenistan is planning to vow at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly. The session of UN General Assembly will start on 18 September 2012.

Envoy said that main direction of foreign political efforts of Turkmenistan at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly will be directed to such issues as peace and sustainability, sustainable development, energy security, ecology and climate change, as well as humanitarian area.
