Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to end the practice of cutting off electricity to entrepreneurs in cases of debt accumulation.
This initiative is outlined in the "roadmap" developed under the presidential decree "On Further Measures to Create Equal Conditions for Entrepreneurs and Ensure a Fair Competitive Environment."
The document calls for revising mechanisms of financial and administrative accountability for inefficient energy use. Particular attention will be given to the illumination of buildings, considering the concept of wasteful resource usage and the specifics of entrepreneurial activities.
A key innovation is the proposal to replace power disconnection with the option of repaying debts in installments.
The draft law will be developed by the Inspectorate for Monitoring the Use of Electricity, Petroleum Products, and Gas, the Business Ombudsman, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The work on the document is scheduled to be completed by March 2025.
