Entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan entered into agreements worth US$44 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan entered into a number of agreements worth US$44 million, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said.

At the end of April, a delegation from Afghanistan visited various cities of Uzbekistan. In Termez, the guests got acquainted with the activities of the international trade complex Intermex and discussed its role in bilateral trade.

Then the delegation visited Tashkent, where it took part in an exhibition of commodity producers. They got acquainted with the products of more than 120 Uzbek companies, including food, clothing, household appliances and other goods. Afghan entrepreneurs also visited the Promeat meat production plant.

A business forum was held in the capital, in which about 200 businessmen from both countries took part. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Dilshod Rasulov and his Afghan colleague Al-Haj Khairuddin.

In 2023, bilateral trade turnover amounted to US$866.9 million, of which US$856.6 million was accounted for by Uzbek exports. The prospects for expanding the partnership were discussed, taking into account the wide consumer market of Afghanistan.

As a result of the visit, export contracts worth US$44 million were signed, and an agreement was reached on the creation of an Uzbek-Afghan Business Council with the participation of representatives of 18 leading companies from both countries.
