Sports 12/09/2009 England announce squad for World Cup in Egypt

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- England-U20 head coach Brian Eastick announced his squad for the World Cup tournament, which takes place in Egypt later this month.

After two games to prepare for the competition, a final squad of 21 players has been selected and they will begin their preparations next week.

With the first game against Uruguay coming up on 26 September, the squad will travel to Cyprus for a training camp in order to help them acclimatise to the conditions they are likely to face in Egypt.

The squad selected contains a number of players who have featured at various levels for England in the past, with the likes of Jason Steele, Kieran Trippier, Rhys Murphy, Matthew James, Matthew Briggs, Gavin Hoyte and Andrew Tutte all being part of the U19 squad which reached the Final of the Euros earlier this summer.

Players such as Ben Mee, Josh Walker and Danny Rose were also part of the U19s team last year who helped the Young Lions to qualify for this competition, billed as FIFA’s second biggest after the senior World Cup.
