A portback election meeting of Uzbekistan’s Women Committee was held in Tashkent on 25 January 2013, UzA reported.

The conference was dedicated to discussion of work of the Committee for past period and perspectives in future.

The conference was attended by delegates, elected from regional, city and district branches of Women’s Committee, members of Senate and Legislative Chamber of O liy Majlis of Uzbekistan, ministries, departments, as well as public organizations.

At the conference, its participants adopted an action programme of Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan on strengthening role of women in formation of civil society in Uzbekistan, strengthening family, their participation in state and public construction for 2013-2014.

The conference also adopted new charter of Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan and elected its board. Elmira Basithanova has been elected as a chairperson of Uzbekistan’s Women Committee.

Elmira Basithanova has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and chairperson of Uzbekistan’s Women Committee in June 2011.
