Electricity supplies limited in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has limited the supply of electricity due to a shortage in the power grid. This was announced by press secretary of the Ministry of Energy Hasan Toshkhujaev.

According to him, on 18 February, power plants in Uzbekistan produced 231.4 million kWh of electricity. To achieve this, 40.3 million cubic meters of natural gas, 26.3 thousand tons of coal and 10.7 thousand tons of fuel oil were burned at thermal power plants.

Some 21.6 million kWh of electricity was imported from Turkmenistan, he added.

He noted that, nevertheless, the deficit in electricity supply yesterday amounted to 6.4 million kWh, and restrictions had to be introduced to 400 MW during peak hours throughout the country.

About 225.6 million kWh of electricity was supplied to consumers in Uzbekistan. Natural gas consumption amounted to 151.6 million cubic meters.
