Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A production of electricity from landfill gases on the territory of the Akhangaran solid waste landfill in Akhangaran district of Tashkent region will be launched.

A meeting was held at the Republican Center for Organization of Sanitary Cleaning Works under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change with the head of the South Korean company SEJIN UZ.

At the meeting, agreements were reached on the launch of the Akhangaran solid waste landfill.

The head of the Directorate for Waste Landfill Management, Shakhriyoro Nurullayev, and the General Director of SEJIN UZ, Kim Inmi, signed an agreement to launch the landfill and its infrastructure.

Issues related to the implementation of a project to produce electricity with a capacity of 16 MW from landfill gases were also discussed, and further plans and an action strategy were agreed upon. The content of the project and the rights and obligations of the parties were explained in detail.
