Educational project "Seeds for the Future 2021" starts in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 November, an opening ceremony of the annual educational project of Huawei "Seeds for the Future" was held at the Media Center of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT). Students from four IT universities will take part in a training program to study advanced technologies and solutions such as Artificial Intelligence, 5G, cloud computing, Internet of Things and much more.

The Seeds for the Future program is a flagship training project that brings together participants from 130 countries and regions from 500 universities around the world. The top 9,000 students completed the internship program, including offline participants who visited Huawei headquarters in China and online participants in the 2020 project.

In Uzbekistan, the project "Seeds for the Future 2021" was launched, which for the 7th year provides students of IT universities with the opportunity to improve their knowledge in the field of ICT technologies, listen to lectures on strengthening leadership skills, exchange cultural values with participants from other countries, and learn about traditions and the culture of China. In previous years, within the framework of the project, 50 TUIT students visited China and underwent an internship at the company’s head office.

In connection with the pandemic in 2020, the "Seeds for the Future" project was organized in an online format. 29 students from TUIT, INHA and the Specialized School of Information and Communication Technologies Muhammad al-Khorezmi became participants in the project. The 2020 program was completely online, combining lectures from foreign experts, a virtual tour of the Huawei showroom in Uzbekistan, as well as a specially organized presentation on the Digital Economy from specialists from the regional Eurasian office of Huawei.

Within the framework of the signed memorandums, the participants of the 2021 project were students of four universities - TUIT, Amity University in Tashkent, Yeoju Technical Institute in Tashkent and Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent. This year, Seeds for the Future will take place in a hybrid format at Huawei’s Uzbekistan office, combining live feeds with Huawei’s headquarters in China, pre-recorded technology courses, a tour of the company’s showroom, lectures on the topics: Impact of technology on sustainable development, Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and developer opportunities. During the project, the participants will also be engaged in the development of their Tech4Good project, in which they will have to reveal the role and value of innovative technologies in the social sphere.

“This year, Huawei signed memoranda with leading IT universities in Uzbekistan aimed at supporting ICT talents. The project "Seeds for the Future" is one of the central points of these agreements, as it allows you to unleash the potential of young ICT personnel, inspire them to achieve achievements in the field of high technologies and learn from the experience of our company’s experts. The project is still taking place in a new format without visiting Huawei’s headquarters, but we see that digital technologies provide us with the opportunity to unite students around the world even in a pandemic,” said Mr. Guo Feng, Deputy Director of Huawei in Uzbekistan.

At the ceremony, rectors of universities, whose students are taking part in the 2021 project, made a welcoming speech, and Madina Dolotkazina, a participant in the last year’s program, made a presentation of the project.

Seeds for the Future is Huawei’s global corporate social responsibility program. In 2017, 4 participants of the "Seeds for the Future" project from Uzbekistan were invited to take part in the international summit "One Belt, One Road" in Beijing, making a presentation of the project to the heads of state and government who attended the summit from 30 countries. In 2019, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov, took part in the award ceremony in the city of Shenzhen and supported our project participants with a welcoming speech, noting the importance of training young specialists in the IT field.
