Economy of Samarkand region grows by 12.4%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand region posted 12.4% growth of gross regional product (GRP) in nine months of 2010 compared to the same period of 2010.

Industrial production of the region rose by 15.7% and agriclture output grew by 8.4% in January-September 2010.

The region implemented 160 projects on increasing industrial potential and attracted investments for 42 billion soums and US$9 million. Some 3,012 new jobs were created in the result.

Samarkand region realized 176 projects on stimulation of consumer goods output. In the result, the consumer goods output grew by 13.7%, including food production – 23.7% and non-good products – 10%.

The localization programme was fulfilled with 5% surplus and produced goods for 192.2 billion soums.

The regional export grew by 26.1% year-on-year in the reporting period. The share of small businesses in GRP made up 77.8%.
