Economy of Karakalpakstan increases by 12% in 2011

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product of Karakalpakstan grew by 12% year-on-year in 2011, the session of MPs of the local council said.

UzA reported that Karakalpakstan Republic exported products and services for US$106 million in 2011.

Share of entrepreneurs in industry, construction and transportation exceeded 40% in 2011. Some 67% of investments from 842 billion soums fell to share of industrial enterprises.

The volume of foreign direct investments into production sectors exceeded 112 billion soums, which grew 3.5 times compared to 2010.
