Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The EBRD is promoting regional trade and further integration of the countries of Central Asia by supporting new projects, which are contributing to better cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian Corridor.

Through its latest joint transaction with Hamkorbank of Uzbekistan, the Bank is helping to expand the capacity of Multimodal Trans Terminal (MTT), a privately-owned logistics railway company based in Tashkent.

The EBRD will share half of the risk of a US$1.1 million loan provided by Hamkorbank to MTT, under the risk-sharing agreement between the two banks, for the acquisition of terminal equipment and necessary modernisation works.

MTT, which provides logistics, storage and refrigerator complex services in Uzbekistan and beyond, will use the funds to construct a modern and efficient container handling facility in the capital city of Tashkent.

As part of the project MTT will be aiming to introduce a number of efficiency measures such as the decrease energy consumption by at least 10 per cent and the installation of smart electricity meters.

It is also committed to develop and implement an inclusive internship programme in partnership with a local educational institution.
