The resolution, which was prepared and submitted by Tajikistan, recommends to UN members to continue efforts on achievement goals related to water resources, which were agreed in international level.

The document said that the water resources have important significance for sustainable development, including preservation of environment and liquidation of poverty and hunger.

The resolution welcomed proposal of Tajikistan to host international conference of high level to review implementation of International Decade for Action “Water for Life” in Dushanbe in June 2010.

About 35 countries, representing various regions of the world, acted as co-author of the resolution.
