Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has released data on the volume of preliminary agreements for the export of US defense products in the 2020 financial year.

According to a DSCA press release, in 2020 the volume of preliminary long-term agreements for the export of American defense products made up US$175.08 billion, which is 2.8% more than in 2019 (US$170.09 billion).

The following regions accounted for the largest volume of agreements in FY2020, according to the accompanying DSCA statistics.

1) Indo-Pacific region: Taiwan - US$11.777 billion; India - US$3.364 billion; South Korea - US$2.124 billion; Japan - 1.983 billion dollars; Australia - 1.718 billion dollars; Singapore - US$1.292 billion

2) Countries of the Middle East and North Africa: Morocco - 4.539 billion dollars; UAE - US$3.568 billion; Saudi Arabia - US$1.175 billion; Israel - US$1.058 billion

3) European countries: Poland - 4.71 billion dollars; Ukraine - USD 510.6 million

Analysis of the data presented shows:

firstly, the tendencies of militarization of various regions of the world, primarily the Indo-Pacific, characterizing the aggravation of the military-political confrontation between the US allies and China;

secondly, the desire of relatively wealthy countries, primarily those neighboring Russia and Iran, to acquire modern American weapons and military equipment for guaranteed protection from external aggression;

thirdly, the stable demand in the external market for modern weapons and military equipment, as well as defense technologies of the American military-industrial complex.

In general, according to experts, the total volume of actual deliveries of US military equipment abroad in the 2020 financial year was in the region of US$45-50 billion, which demonstrates the leading position of the United States in the world defense market.
