Drunk driver attacks traffic police inspector in uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 July 2024, a drunk driver attacked a traffic police inspector and fled the scene in Kashkadarya region.

According to reports, an officer from the operational department of Kukdala district noticed a Lacetti car speeding dangerously on the road near the village of Tokchi in the evening of 8 July. The officer immediately reported the incident to the district traffic safety management.

Inspector of the district traffic police, Senior Sergeant Elbek Primov, stopped the mentioned vehicle. During the inspection, it was revealed that the driver, born in 1966, was intoxicated.

In an attempt to flee, the driver attacked Senior Sergeant E. Primov with a kitchen knife, inflicting several wounds, and then fled the scene. As a result of the injuries sustained, Senior Sergeant Primov was taken to a medical facility where, unfortunately, he passed away.

Thanks to swift operational measures, the suspect was apprehended in the territory of Kukdala district. Currently, a criminal case is underway under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the intentional murder of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty.

Law enforcement authorities are taking all necessary measures to support the family and loved ones of the deceased officer, as well as to ensure their social protection.
