Drivers in Tashkent Fined for Failing to Yield to Pedestrians

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent has begun imposing fines on drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians — such violations are now automatically recorded by smart cameras equipped with artificial intelligence.

According to the Department of Public Security’s Traffic Safety Service, 1,719 violations were registered in just the first three days of the system’s operation.

In line with a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the phased installation of modern photo and video monitoring systems began across the country in June 2025. The purpose of these systems is to improve road safety, enforce traffic regulations, and swiftly detect violations caused by human error.

Specifically, the company Telecom Soft LLC has equipped ten road sections with intelligent surveillance systems capable of automatically detecting instances where drivers do not yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.

By the end of 2025, similar systems are expected to be installed at thirty more unsignalized pedestrian crossings in various regions of the country.
