Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 August, a tragic incident occurred in Surkhandarya region when an intercity passenger train collided with a Chevrolet Gentra car.

The accident happened at 12:20 PM at an unguarded railway crossing between the Elbayan and Shurchi stations. The crossing is equipped with warning signs and automatic signaling, with a 500-meter clear line of sight leading up to it.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the car died at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by the driver violating the "Rules for Approaching and Crossing Railway Crossings" by running a red signal.

Law enforcement authorities are currently conducting an investigation.
