Draft law “On electronic commerce” discussed in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on information and communication technologies held a roundtable in Tashkent city to discuss issues of improving legal bases for electronic commerce.

MPs, representatives of banks and ICT companies considered a draft law “On electronic commerce” in new edition, the press service of the Legislative Chamber said.

The chairperson of the Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on information and communication technologies Abdurashid Jurabaev said that Uzbekistan create necessary legal base to regulate electronic commerce. Uzbekistan adopted laws “On informatization”, “On electronic payments”, “On protection of information in automated banking system”, “On electronic digital signature”, etc.

Taking into account development of ICT and trade in Uzbekistan, the country developed new edition of the law “On electronic commerce”. The participants of the roundtable considered it.

The document deepens market reforms and liberalized economy, as well as improves legal regulation of e-commerce in Uzbekistan. It creates additional conditions to develop business environment and organize technological market infrastructure, which meets international standards.

The law abolishes requirement to have electronic digital signature at electronic documents for individuals at conducting e-commerce and envisages replacement of signature with other one-time identifications or similar signs. The document allows to issue acts of services in electronic form, which will simplify e-commerce procedures.

The draft law also pays attention to protection of information of the participants of e-commerce process. The participants shared their recommendations and proposals on improving the draft law.
