Don’t downplay Dempo demands Demyanenko
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nasaf Karshi head coach Anatoly Demyanenko insists his team must not be complacent when they face Dempo Sports Club on Wednesday despite their emphatic victory over the Indian champions a fortnight ago in the AFC Cup.

The Uzbekistan side were a class apart from their Indian hosts as they demolished them 4-0 to illustrate the gulf in difference between them and the rest of Group A as they collected maximum points from their first three games.

Demyanenko, though, insists this side must not take anything for granted.

“The fact that we beat Dempo with a score of 4-0 on their ground bears no relation to tomorrow's match,” he said.

“That match was a long time ago. We need to be tuned into the match against Dempo very seriously."

Nasaf were replaced as leaders in the Uzbekistan League by Bunyodkor on Monday after drawing with Bukhara over the weekend.

However, they remain second with five wins and two draws and Demyanenko insists he demands the best from his team in every competition they compete in.

"In every tournament we set ourselves the maximum task," he added.

"Therefore, regardless of the opponents’ strength, we are entering the field to win. I'm pleased with how we have prepared for the match against Dempo.

“We do not have any injured or suspended players in the squad. Ivan Boskovic is fully fit and ready to play for 90 minutes."

Dempo, though, are set to be without head coach Armando Colaco who has been admitted to hospital with high blood pressure.

Assistant Mauricio Afonso addressed the pre-match press conference in his place, insisting morale was good among his men as they look to avenge the home loss last time out.

"After the match against Nasaf, we had two games in the Indian league and won both. Therefore, the mood among our players is good,” he said.

“Defeat with a score of 4-0 has already become history and tomorrow we will come out on the field with a desire to win.”

The Indian champions will be missing Iranian defender Rouhollah Samieinia, who is suspended after receiving two yellow cards, while three players are ruled out with injury.

“Despite this, we will try to create serious problems for Nasaf,” Afonso remarked.

“At the same time matches with one of the leading clubs in Uzbekistan for us - it's a good experience. We have a lot to learn from Nasaf.”
