Domestic travel for citizens of Uzbekistan to become cheaper by up to 40%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the Presidential Decree "On measures for the further development of domestic and pilgrim tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan", measures to stimulate domestic tourism have been identified.

According to the Decree, tickets for new flights will be sold to citizens of Uzbekistan with a 25% discount. If this ticket is purchased through a tour operator, an additional 15 percent of the additional discount is provided, respectively, the total discount is 40 percent. At the same time, hotel services purchased through a tour operator are also provided with a 10 percent discount.

In addition, it is planned that tour operators providing a full range of services will reduce the cost of other services at corporate prices. The lowest price of a ticket for the Urgench-Ferghana-Urgench flight, which opened on 3 February 2020, is 920,000 soums. If a local tourist buys this ticket directly at the ticket office, the ticket price is reduced by 25% to 690,000 soums.

When buying an air ticket through a tour operator, another 15% discount is offered, and the ticket price will be from 587,000 soums to 333,000 soums with a discount. In turn, if the hotel is booked by a tour operator, and the cost of a standard single room in the "Uzbekistan" hotel is 270,000 soums, and based on the corporate prices provided to the operator, the cost will be 200 thousand soums.

Thanks to the indicated 10% discount, the cost of the hotel will be 180,000 soums. According to the final mechanism, a hotel room, which costs 270,000 soums, will be 90,000 soums cheaper.

For example, this service is provided at the Ziyorat hotel in Ferghana for 180,000 soums, tour operators take 150,000 soums at corporate prices and offer 135,000 soums to local tourists with a 10% discount. At the same time, the amount of tourist tax is 980 soums, which is 0.4% of the base amount of the calculation.

In turn, the proceeds from the tourist tax will be completely directed towards programs that encourage inland travel. Hotel taxes are not included in the tax base by law. In foreign countries, for example, in Ukraine, the tourist tax is 30 hryvnia (ie 11 400 soums) per day of stay.

This experience is applied in Serbia as well. These funds will be used to develop and promote domestic tourism. At the same time, given the epidemiological situation, it is more expedient to focus on domestic travel and to promote domestic tourism widely.

It should be noted that the change in the flow of tourists will serve the employment of employees of hotels, restaurants, transport companies, artisans, tour operators and guides.
