Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the National Agency for Perspective Projects is attending the regional conference "Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance in Central Asia," held on November 12-13, 2024, in Astana.
The conference is organized by the World Bank in collaboration with the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).
The event brought together representatives from governments, international organizations, the private sector, and the academic community to discuss pressing issues and best practices in disaster risk management.
During the conference, key aspects of financing and insuring risks associated with natural disasters were reviewed, especially given the increasing frequency of natural catastrophes and the impacts of climate change.
Participants emphasized the need for Central Asian countries to consolidate efforts in establishing a unified risk management system.
Joint initiatives and experience-sharing between nations are expected to help optimize resources and improve preparedness for natural disasters.
The conference also included panel discussions where experts shared successful examples of disaster risk financing projects from various countries.
