Director of ISMI Eldor Aripov: Central Asian Cooperation has become sustainable

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- "Today, Central Asian cooperation has become sustainable. Summits of the heads of states of the region have become regular. Recently, the fifth meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries was held in Dushanbe," emphasized Eldor Aripov, the director of ISMI, speaking at a briefing at the UN headquarters in New York.

He noted that in the region, mechanisms for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, youth, agriculture, and transport are successfully functioning. The Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia is actively functioning.

However, in his opinion, the development of the institutional basis of cooperation should be continued. In this context, he drew attention to the practical significance of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to create an Economic Council of Central Asian States, which is intended to become an effective mechanism for ensuring cooperation across the entire trade and economic agenda.

It should be reminded that on 4 December, a briefing on "Current Issues of the Global and Regional Agenda: Uzbekistan's Perspective" was held at the UN headquarters in New York. The event was dedicated to the speech and initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, voiced during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in September.
