Development of renewable energy discussed in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent is hosting events dedicated to development of renewable energy in Uzbekistan on 15-16 November 2012. The events were organized by Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.

The events are attended by representatives of ministries, specialized international organizations, NGOs, national companies, enterprises, etc. The events were divided into four sessions: “Social impact of legislation on renewable energy”, “Legal and regulative aspects of legislation on renewable energy”, “Business aspects of legislation on renewable energy” and “Technical and procedural issues, relaed to legislation in renewable energy”.

Growth of prices to hydrocarbon raw materials in recent years stimulated to search and introduce alternative sources of the energy. Currently, some countries adopted programmes on development of renewable energy. In the result, total capacities of installed solar energy stations rose twice in Europe and Middle East. Total area of solar collectors reached 15 million square meters in the USA, 12 million square meters in Japan. Use of wing energy is growing annually by 40-45% in Europe.

According to some calculations, opportunities of the use of renewable energy in Uzbekistan are equal to 51 billion tonnes of oil equivalent. Use of renewable energy can ensure energy independence and provide electricity to rural and remote areas, decrease greenhouse emission, and development of the country.

During the discussions, local experts said that Uzbekistan undertakes steps to stimulate use of renewable energy. It was said Uzbekistan needs to further develop legislative framework in renewable energy.
